Karachi Electric (KE) is the only vertically-integrated power utility in Pakistan, which means the organization manages all three key areas – Generation, Transmission and Distribution – of producing and delivering energy to industrial, commercial, agricultural and residential areas in Karachi, Dhabeji and Gharo in Sindh, and Hub, Uthal, Vindar and Bela in Balochistan.
How are we building KE’s capacity in manpower?
Given KE has a large workforce of 10,000 persons, being able to handle the day to day operational tasks such as, recruitment, training, payroll, employee relations and benefits often proves to be challenging. KE identified that partially outsourcing this area made strong fiscal sense allowing them to focus on the other areas of the service. KE engaged HTA as its manpower outsourcing partner, and is currently managing around 1,200 persons to build KE capacity to manage and grow their people.
